May 2 Cool + Modern Wooden Toys

I'm a designer that loves things to look good AND function well. What's the point of a pretty room if you can't use it, ya know?

My top two favorite rooms to design with function in mind are kids' rooms and playrooms. There are just so many directions you can take them!

Serene and calm, modern and streamlined, eclectic and whimsical....the options are limitless! And no matter what style, I always want the spaces to grow with each child beyond their early years. I'm not into a room that is too childish or themed, and I definitely steer clear of the generic, plastic, character-themed, in your face toys if I can help it. (Although, let's be real parents, those loud obnoxious toys are a necessity at times...but that's what storage drawers and closets are made for!)

Separate of the essential furniture pieces, I believe these rooms should always include well-designed, modern, kid-friendly toys. I adore almost every Scandinavian inspired, wood toy I've ever seen and love incorporating them into my design plans. They serve so many educational and developmental purposes, are typically eco-friendly, and look amazing styled in your home. Win, win!
