Mar 21 LIGHTING SOLUTIONS: PLUG-IN SCONCES

I love lighting. I love it in all forms. From floor lamps and table lamps to hanging pendants, chandeliers, and wall mounted sconces, lighting can be a transformative element to any space. In my opinion, the right lighting adds ambiance, makes a room feel larger, and creates a happy, fresh, and more complete overall design.

Renting can be a bit tricky though. Rarely do you move into a rental that's perfectly lit, let alone pre-wired for all of your existing fixtures. And unlike furniture that can be rearranged and moved around without much fuss, a lot of lighting options require professional installation. So since you can't really do anything permanent in most rentals, calling an electrician to wire your pretty lighting is most likely out of the question. (Believe me, I know from experience....and have tons of boxes in storage waiting for their next appearance in the new house!)

But do not fret, because there are lots of other ways to add personality, ambiance, and light to your temporary digs. You've just gotta get creative! My favorite rental hack: plug-in sconces! Whether as bedside lighting, above a bar cart or entry console, or next to your desk, these little bright helpers add function and design all on the vertical without taking up any precious floor real estate!
